"The Outhouse Eye" by Jerry Taylor
"The Outhouse Eye" by Jerry Taylor
“When I looked at the upper left side of the outhouse I saw a knot hole that looked like an eye, thus the name. Like most outdoor wooden toilets this one needed perpetual care, but it did not happen. For almost a year, I was told, the church and small school was going to add new indoor toilets — but not yet. I loved the patina on the door so I turned the background into a gray scale of black and white so the door and the eye would standout.”
Jerry Taylor and his wife Sylvia have participated in many trips with Remember the Children. Over the years, Jerry’s skill of photography has been a gift as he observed and captured moments that added a depth of meaning and understanding. We are thankful for the generous donation of 12 of Jerry’s pieces to raise funds for orphan care and church planting in Romania and Tanzania. 11 of the 12 are framed between sheets of glass with open edging and attached wire. The dimensions for all pieces are 17’’ by 23’’ including the mat and frame.
Jerry is a retired Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and a former educator and administrator in both public and private schools. He also taught Photography in Harford Community College's Continuing Education Program.
He currently shoots with a Nikon D850 and assorted Nikon lenses; he also uses the Nikon Coolpix P1000 super zoom.
