How Does Sponsorship Help Kids Emotionally?

By Natalie Barentson

Children in our sponsorship programs receive a roof over their head, food in their bellies, and access to education.  All of their physical needs are met, but what does your sponsorship provide emotionally?  How are you helping their emotional well-being?  There are 3 main ways!

1.  Safe, Loving, Christian Parents

When you support a child from RtC, you give them a home with parents who love, care, and support them—something they didn’t have before.  Kids learn they are safe and loved, things they need to thrive!  Over the years, children have healed from traumatic pasts, became more confident, and processed grief because they were in one of RtC’s orphan homes. They have grown into healthy adults thanks to their house parents and your support!

2.  Counseling and Mental Health Services

You also give children access to counselors and health services.  Many of the children come from homes of abuse, abandonment, and trauma.  Naturally, they need help to process difficult childhoods and learn new coping mechanisms.  When it’s needed, children receive counseling and appropriate treatment to help them live healthy, happy lives.

3.  A Community of People Rooting for Them

Your sponsorship not only gives them parents and counseling, but also the knowledge that people are rooting for them.  You show them that they are worthy and loved.  You show them that people care about them and want to see them thrive.  You show them they are important to God and to you!  It’s a huge encouragement to your sponsored child to know someone is supporting them and wants to see them succeed.

You truly impact kids in many ways through your sponsorship.  You are doing incredible work for the Kingdom of God!  Thank you for investing in our kids and showing them they matter.

If you don’t already sponsor a child, it’s only $35 a month to impact the life of a child!  You can learn more and sign up using this link!
