Things have shifted over the last week, and most of what we are supporting is now taking place inside of Ukraine.
Our biggest need is food shipments as the Ukrainian people are in constant need of food as they have extreme shortages. We are trying to send a truck or two depending on our resources. The truck pictured went 60 kilometers inside Ukraine last Friday.
More water filters are being delivered and we continue to help with clean water.
We raised rough money for four vans to help in transporting people from dangerous areas. Some of the cargo vans that are taking in food to the war-torn areas are also returning full of people who have decided to finally leave their homes and the danger they have been facing.
Most of our refugee care is taking place at centers on the Ukrainian side of the border. Many people want to stay in Ukraine and will make their way back home when peace is restored. Our prayer is that it will be soon.
I know most of you are reading and seeing the news reports in our national media. It can be overwhelming with the images that are being sent into our living rooms. I received a video message today from Ivan, the leader of the men that are driving into harm's way to bring people out. He said, "like many people in the world today, I am struck by the cruelty and atrocities we saw in Bucha. Mourning... Grief... Now we have a better understanding of the Psalms of David in the Bible when he asked for a curse and revenge on his enemies and we are in solidarity with him today and we want to say that today. But at the same time, we do not allow our emotions to rise, but we keep a calm mind to remain alive today. We must save at least a few. Today a similar situation may take place in other regions, especially in the east. Therefore we need to think about those who are still alive... to save them... to think about those who came to us, who are near us and to take care of their lives. In this way, by saving one person we will save everyone. May God bless all of us to be at the places He wants us to be."
LAST WEEK, BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROSITY, 2 VANS DROVE 107 PEOPLE TO SAFETY.
Pray for peace. Pray for Ukraine. YOU are making a difference.
