Can you believe it? There’s a new church in our ministry in Tanzania! Our house parent and teacher, Dionis Buhanda, started a church on October 25, 2020. It’s located in Mololo, the community where the RtC orphan homes are located. Tanzania had extremely low cases of COVID-19, therefore the church was able to open because of minimal restrictions. It’s been thriving and growing, and is a huge encouragement!
I spoke with Dionis to learn more about his heart and vision for his church. You can read our conversation below!
Why did you want to start this church?
I felt that this was the assignment God put on my heart! I wanted to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my community. There are so many that have lost hope and are in darkness. All of these people need God!
How many people attend your church?
When we started in October, we had 25 people. Last Sunday, we had 111! God has been so faithful to us and the church is growing faster by His grace.
What is your vision for the future?
My vision is for the church to really serve God and serve the people of our community. We want to meet the physical needs of as many people as we can! We have many needy persons in our society, and some are dying from poverty. Eventually, we’d also love to start a hospital to meet medical needs cheaply, if not freely! Overall, I want this church to be a solution to others’ problems. We believe this is what God has called me & this church to do!
